Refund policy

Tank Drive – Returns, Refunds & Warranty Policy (South Africa)

We aim to ensure a smooth and fair experience for all customers. This policy is aligned with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) of South Africa.


1. Returns Window

You may request a return within 30 days of receiving your order.


2. Defective, Damaged, or Incorrect Items (CPA Protected)

If you receive:

  • A defective item
  • A damaged item
  • The wrong product

Please notify us within 7 days of delivery at order@tankdrive.co.za, including photos where applicable.

In accordance with the CPA:

  • You are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund
  • Tank Drive will cover all return shipping costs for valid defective claims

3. CPA 6-Month Implied Warranty

All products sold by Tank Drive include a 6-month implied warranty as required by South African law.

If a product fails within 6 months of delivery due to a defect (not caused by misuse, normal wear and tear, or incorrect installation), you are entitled to:

  • Repair
  • Replacement
  • Refund

Tank Drive reserves the right to inspect and assess the item before approving the claim.


4. Change of Mind / Non-Defective Returns

We do not accept returns for:

  • Change of mind
  • Incorrect product selection
  • Items that have been used, installed, or altered

At our sole discretion, we may approve a return if:

  • The item is unused, uninstalled, and in original packaging
  • All original accessories and documentation are included

If approved:

  • Return shipping is for the buyer’s account, or
  • The item may be dropped off in Bellville, Cape Town (by prior arrangement)
  • A handling/restocking fee of up to 15% may apply

5. Installation Disclaimer (Important)

  • Many Tank Drive products require proper technical installation. We strongly recommend installation by a qualified professional.
  • Tank Drive is not liable for any damage to products or vehicles caused by incorrect installation, misuse, or modifications.
  • Any item that shows signs of installation, attempted installation, or modification may void eligibility for return or refund, unless a manufacturing defect is confirmed.

6. Return Process

To initiate a return:

  1. Email order@tankdrive.co.za with your order number and reason for return
  2. Wait for confirmation and return instructions
  3. Do not send items back without approval — they will not be accepted

7. Return Shipping

  • Defective items: Tank Drive covers return shipping
  • Non-defective returns: Customer is responsible for return shipping
  • Optional: Drop-off at Bellville premises (by arrangement)

8. Non-Returnable Items

We do not accept returns on:

  • Custom or special-order items
  • Installed or modified products
  • Clearance or sale items
  • Gift cards

9. Exchanges

We do not offer direct exchanges.
To obtain a different item:

  1. Return the original item (if eligible)
  2. Place a new order

10. Refunds

  • Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you of the outcome
  • Approved refunds are processed within 7–10 business days
  • Refunds are issued via your original payment method

Please note: Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to process the refund.
